Polytechnic Ministries (NPCF, PCF, TP)

PCF
Pray for the:
• Exco to be fervent and wholehearted in their walk with the Lord and in carrying out their responsibilities.
• first year students to continue to be faithful in joining us in the fellowship and to catch the vision of student ministry.
NPCF
Pray for the Exco to:
• be focused on Christ and be united as they serve together.
• take the time to nurture the first year students and to also address the concern in the drop in number of first year students who have joined the CF this academic year.
TP-SCF
• Give thanks to God for the student initiative exercised in the Exco and in the running of the CF. Thank God for the regular average attendance of eight students.
• Pray for the nurturing of the first year students so that the vision of student ministry and leadership will be passed on properly.
University Ministries

NTU-CF
Praise God for:
• providing new leaders in the Exco despite the initial difficulties in finding suitable candidates.
• the planning sessions and retreat that the Exco had in preparation for the new academic year.
Pray for:
• more students to avail themselves to serve as CGLs and for the CGL training in August. Pray that God will grant them wisdom and love to serve.
• the Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) on 10-13 August and Welcome Week in September that more students will see the vision and challenges of student ministry and join the CF.
• all the new leaders in the different sections (NIECF, Indonesian CF, Chinese CF and English CF) to have wisdom and strength to serve God and the students in the new academic year.
SIM-SCF
Praise God for:
• seeing the students through their exams.
• the recruitment of new student leaders for the coming semester and the transition from the previous batch of leaders.
• the FOC held in July and the approval granted for the school subsidy.
Pray for the:
• strategy of the hostel and IFG ministries.
• spiritual growth of the CFers in the Word and the integrating of the Gospel into their daily lives. Pray also for their passion for outreach to be sustained.
• focus on discipleship this year and the unity and the single-mindedness of the new student leaders’ vision for student ministry on campus as they map out of the new CF structure and curriculum for this academic year. Pray that in the midst of all this, their relationship with Christ remains Christ-centred.
• the recruitment of the new students in July through the orientation programmes, Welcome Tea and the events in August.
• the continued favour of the school authorities on the CF and the support of the Christian staff and lecturers.
SMU Diaspora
Thank God for the:
• opportunity to interact with the international bridging students through sessions like mock interviews, to prepare them for real interviews when they apply to enter SMU.
• few but faithful student leaders who have spent their time and effort in this pioneering work. Two of them have graduated and will be starting work in the private sector soon.
• partners and speakers who have contributed to the pioneering efforts of this ministry.
Pray for:
• more passionate and willing Christian students in SMU to lead the ministry. As mentioned, two of the leaders have graduated so more leaders are needed to keep this ministry going.
• the established relations we already have with those international students who came regularly. Pray that the relations will continue despite the vacation and that they may continue to be interested in being involved with the ministry.
• that we will be able to maintain contact with the bridging students. Most of these students will be coming into SMU as full-time international students, so pray that we can continue our outreach to them which we started last academic year.
VCF
Thank God for the:
• Leadership Planning Camp held in June. Student leaders were challenged to think through their understanding of VCF’s purpose, knowledge of the Bible and mission as Christian students.
• very overwhelming turnout at the FOC. Pray that the freshman will be inspired to join VCF and share in the vision of being salt and light on campus and in society.
Pray for the:
• new Exco to lead VCF in this new academic year with wisdom, grace and love from God.
• various Welcome Teas that will be held in August – that the freshmen and seniors may be inspired by the ministry that is going on in VCF.
• standing committees: Social Action, IFG and Life Travel Planners – as they plan and work even closer together to integrate better within the VCF body.
• planning that will be done in the coming months for the Annual Teach-In Conference to be held at Peacehaven Campsite, Genting Highlands, Malaysia from 6-11 December.
ICF
Praise God for His faithfulness to ICF as they celebrated their 2nd Anniversary in July. From a humble beginning with only five students in 2008, there are now 40-50 students attending weekly fellowship meetings.
Pray for the:
• recruitment of new members as the current students, including the Exco, will complete their studies in the middle of 2011.
• initiatives planned to reach out to freshmen in August. Pray for more students from other nationalities to join the CF as the majority of the students in ICF are from Nigeria.
NAFA
Praise God for:
• raising four leaders to plan for the new academic year and look into the issues of faith and the arts.
• the new contacts received from other faculties besides the Music Faculty.
Pray for:
• leaders to have faith and strength to do God’s work.
• more believers from different churches to join the CF to demonstrate the unity in Christ and expand the ministry.
• opportunities to plant seeds of salvation in individuals.
Postgraduate Ministry
Thank God forthe provision of a new staff, Joni, to look into postgraduate ministry as well as to coordinate the IFG work. Pray for Joni as she adjusts to staffwork, does the necessary networking and provides the support for this ministry.
Pray for the Postgraduate Welcome Tea to be held on 7 August, that many postgraduate students will be able to come. Pray also for suitable follow-up programmes to be planned to suit the respective needs of postgraduate students.
Missions
G Cube/G3

Praise God for overseeing the Phase II overseas exposure trips to Cambodia, Vietnam, India and Philippines in May to June and enriching the students’ experience in missions.
Pray for:
• the Phase II programme students that they will be challenged on their own future involvement in missions and how they can play an active role in it now that their overseas exposure trip is over.
• the students and trainers involved in the new Phase I programme starting on 18 September to end-November.
• the confirmation of the countries of exposure and the speakers for the next Phase II programme beginning at the end of 2010.
• unity, good working relationships and the spiritual growth of the missions committee as they serve together in the G3 training programme and the fine-tuning of the training programme syllabus for both phases.
• students who go through our programme to be challenged in their mindset and involvement in the area of missions.
Chinese Work

Praise God for providing the venues and giving us an enriching time of fellowship and learning at the graduating camp and university leadership camp held in May.
Pray for:
• good response and interaction between CFers and freshmen at the NTU CCF FOC from 10-13 Aug.
• the planning and smooth-running of the combined Polytechnic Bible camp to be held in mid-September. Pray for the students as they learn how to study the Epistles at the camp.
• the CW 40th Anniversary family gathering on 15 October that it will not be just a time of fellowship between students and alumnus but also a step towards greater partnership with the student ministry.
Indonesian Ministry

Praise God forthe new leadership in the IM Working Committee and the Excos in the various campuses. Pray for the new leaders that they may be able to discern God’s will for their various portfolios and be committed to the ministry. Pray also for them to manage their time well as they take up this commitment.
Pray for the:
• combined Exco Camp (27-28 Aug) to prepare the new student leaders as they take up the challenge to continue the ministry. Pray for the programme planning for the new academic year.
• plans being made to welcome new Indonesian students coming to Singapore. Pray that we may serve the students that God entrusts to us.
• staff to be better equipped for ministry through the various conferences that they will be attending – Melinda: IFES East Asia Graduates’ Conference (end- July) and Victor: Perkantas National Camp (mid-Aug).
Media & Relations
Chong Yun Mei (Head)
Pray for:
• the team working on a booklet to communicate Vision 2020 to our students, graduates and supporters. Pray for us as we finalise the contents and design.
• the continuing exercise to update the FES mailing list, organise relevant resources to support the student ministry and get the library database in order.
• more students to be interested to read good Christian books to grow their mind.
General Secretary's Office

Tan Tee Khoon (General Secretary), Lisman Komaladi (General Secretary Designate), Yvonne Choo (Associate General Secretary),Tan Li Lian (Administrator)
Pray for:
• the efforts to reduce our financial deficit of $22,000 (English Section) as at the end of May. While we continue to trust in God’s providence, we plan to have a more systemic approach in fund raising and engagement with donors. Pray also for the database revamp and efforts to renew contact with graduates.
• the FES National Conference 2010 from 23-25 September, that through this event, students from all sections of FES can gather and learn from one another. Pray also for the speakers, logistics, and financial needs. Pray for students to be like-minded especially in “impacting the world, wherever we are”, which is the theme of the conference.
• Lisman who will attending the IFES East Asia Regional Support Group meeting for General Secretaries from 3-9 October in the Philippines. Pray for journey mercies, fruitful discussions and planning to align the ministry in the region as well as move the FES Singapore ministry forward.
• Yvonne and Lisman as they participate at the 3rd Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization at Cape Town, South Africa at the end of October. Pray for discernment and wisdom to make the best use of this opportunity to learn and think through how applications can be made towards the advancement of God’s Kingdom in Singapore.
